News 2024.05 - Freiburg New Edition

At the start of the season - the first Hoobl!

The Freiburg im Breisgau tramway, formerly known colloquially as Hoobl (Alemannic for slicer), has been in existence since 1901, was electrified from the very beginning and is now operated by five lines in regular service as well as the vintage line 7. The current model replicates a railcar from the very first series of electric vehicles in Freiburg!

From 1901, a total of 27 of the two-axle vehicles built by Hannoversche Waggonfabrik AG (HAWA) in Hanover-Linden ran through the narrow, winding streets of Freiburg. The surviving carriage is used on the vintage line 7 operated by the Friends of the Freiburg Tramway. It runs between Paduaallee and the Stadthalle every half hour on the first Saturday of every month from May to September, stops at all intermediate stations and can be used free of charge.

The current new edition for the start of the 2024 season will also be supplied with a bell-type armature motor and NEM561 interface for the first time. All models now have an exemplary and finely etched metal platform grille. The models were out of stock for some time and are now available again in a very manageable quantity as a high-quality stand model or motorized layout model, while stocks last!
