New locos in the Zillertal!

The Zillertalbahn, a narrow-gauge railway of 760 mm, runs through the Zillertal in Tyrol from Jenbach to Mayrhofen. Opened 1902, the 32 km long, partly double-track line is in continuous operation. At the beginning, trains operated with steam locomotives of the U series, 10 passenger cars and 22 freight cars. Today, the route mainly serves local traffic, tourist traffic and, to a very limited extent, goods traffic (timber transport).

Again and again there were considerations to acquire locomotives of the powerful and robust series 2095, which unfortunately have so far remained without any concrete result. Incidentally, the locos are an excellent match for the four-axle waggons presented in April last year. With the help of which, and the more exemplary buffet waggons and observation cars “Cabriowagen“, entire trains can now be operated! True to the tradition of Stängl MODELLBAHNEN, the design study machines were produced in very small quantities. Pre-orders for the next delivery series are gladly accepted. However, due to the extraordinarily tight production schedule for 2021, longer waiting periods might occur.
