The “Wiener Tramwaymuseum” (WTM) collection, founded by Helmut Portele in 1966, restores the most important and valuable vehicles used in Vienna's public transport system and makes them accessible to the public. In addition, the exhibits will be kept operational, so that they can be offered for special trips through historic Vienna for private festivities or public events. The “Wiener Tramwaymuseum” collection is the largest and most complete collection of historic vehicles in the world focused on only one city - the city of Vienna.

55 years of the Vienna Tramway Museum!

The museum is now open! On both locations - the tram museum of Wiener Linien in Vienna Erdberg (Sat-Sun 10: 00-18: 00 and Wed. 09: 00-18: 00 and the museum depot in Traiskirchen. As income from the popular special trips is missing, and rental and maintenance costs are undeminished, the WTM is even more delighted about every visitor.

Every single vehicle in the collection was deliberately selected and is historically valuable and an irreplaceable cultural asset. We are happy to be able to dedicate an exemplary model to at least one of the exhibits. The set 141/1241 was refurbished for the museum in a true-to-original historical condition. This allows - with the help of the carefully selected line and destination boards provided - the model to be operated as a historical model. Or you can design a small WTM museum set and enrich your modern vehicle fleet and a veteran with Viennese charm.
